2008-06-25 - Continued 2008 Apprentice/Intern Program.

I've taken on another apprentice this summer. This time, I have an American apprentice from our local Catholic school. It works out nicely between apprentice/interns from the Philippines and the U.S..  Philippine students have their summer vacation from April-June. U.S. students have their summer vacation from June - August. This means if I line it up correctly, I can have young minds putting hours and hours into building out and enhancing  the ideas I have for my future company. I'd have to go back and count the hours on the status reports. I believe this year alone my interns have but collectively more than 500 hours into it. Granted, a lot of this was basic learning what to do. However, my nephew who is in his 2nd year of internship has honed his skill rather nicely.

2008-05-26 Drupal Charts Module.

I downloaded the Drupal found at http://drupal.org/project/charts. I noticed it was a little thin on the documentation so I went through the code and put together some notes for those who might need a little more instructions on how to use it. I thought it would be useful to others. It's a good way to get graphs as content in your website.

2008-05-17 First Major Launch Of A Community Site > 100 People.

Today, we launched the Conshohocken Catholic school website.  I am excited to see how the community will come together and use this site as a tool to define and achieve sustainable growth. I also hope that as the school gains notoriety that as the saying goes - "High Tides Bring In All Boats". I hope a school with notoriety will in turn open up academic opportunities for my children who attend this school.

2008-05-11: Find A Cause And Leverage Drupal.

A cause that's near and dear to my heart is the plight of foreign trained dentists in America. My wife is one. Ten years ago, she left a thriving practice in the Philippines to come and marry me. We came to find out the limitations and restrictions placed on foreign trained dentists here. In most states (except for California and Minnesota), you're education and practical experience is for all practical purposes not valued. The road map to practicing here leads you all the way back to day 1 of dental school.

Today, I started foreigntraineddentists.org as a way to have a conversation between foreign trained dentists, their patients, American dentists, politicians, insurance companies, and foreign dental schools.

Drupal provides all the community plumbing I will need to start up a cause based social network.
